Anybody have any idea why my sleep button would not be functioning after I jailbroke my iPod 3Gen ??

Running 5.1.1 jail broke with absinthe 2.0
 
Maybe your power button was on its last leg.
Jailbreaks don't usually break hardware functions on your device.
