3rd Party AV Cable Coming? or hacked DIY?

Has anyone heard of any plans for a cheap 3rd party alternative to apple's AV cable??? $50 is ridiculous when I used to be able to use my $0.99 composite AV cable from Radio Shack. Or maybe some form of a DIY cable? 😕
