guys - my iphone 7 doesn't charge sometimes with my motorola charger and a 3rd party lightning cable. It shows charging but doesn't really charge. Surprisingly my spouse's phone (same model and HW version) has no issues

Should I change my cable or the wall plug? I don't want to buy both Apple OEM as they are expensive so hoping I just have to replace one of them

Thx

Get both of them replaced. If your phone catches fire or a short circuit takes place then you’ll lose more than a few bucks you’re trying to save.

Personally I always advise either Apple or named third-party cables, adapters and anything else.

And don’t get caught out by the many, many companies you see even on Amazon, advertising as MFI products, when they sure as heck aren’t.

Use the good old rule of thumb, if it looks too good to be true, it is.

Anyway, all that aside. I’m curious if both you and your wife are on the same version of iOS? Just as you said she has the same iPhone and no problem.

Since I started using the iOS 12 beta, my iPhone refuses to charge with my friends charger when I go to visit. Where it used to work on iOS 11. I think Apple are clamping down harder on unlicensed products as they often do in updates.

Anker is one of the very well known third party manufacturer. I’ve been using them personally since ages and have never had an issue.
