this may have already been said but: I hear there are some compatibility issues with 3rd party RAM and Leopard. Is this true? Also, how hard is it do install third party RAM in a MBP?

Installing RAM is easy. All you need is the right RAM and a very small Phillips screwdriver.

As far as 3rd party RAM goes, I think you'll be OK as long as you stay away from the cheap stuff. Crucial.com is a good place to get the right RAM for your MBP... I got mine there, and I've installed RAM for other folks that also came from Crucial. Never had any problems.

I doubt it, if you heard any compatibility issue, then you need to check original post and make sure you don't buy the same brand and specs

price isn't a standard in this situation.

I upgraded my MBP to 4 GB with OWC ram. Works great.

I'm assuming you bought the OWC-branded RAM, right?

I'll be getting the MBP (when it's updated with Penryn) and will be buying 3rd party RAM to bump it up to 4GB.

I'm guessing the performance/reliability of the OWC-branded RAM is good(?).
