Anyone having any issues when using 3rd party USB-C with apply chargers on the new iPads?

I purchase some of the longer Anker leads to be used with 30w Apple charging bricks. Seems sometimes, but not all of the time I plus the iPad in to charge but it seems to get stuck in a loop with charging tuning on and off constantly.

Anyone else have this issue?

So it seems the one of the leads is a bit odd. My wife iPad charges fine, mine just gets stuck in the loop of stop start. Swapped the cable for another Anker one on the same charger and mine is now fine. Bit odd

I usually buy 3rd party 6ft cables for my iPads. I find the 3 ft cables too short. I have an Amazon Basics lightning one for my old ipad mini. Was gonna get a usb-c version for my new 11” ipad pro, but i ended up buying the Apple brand 6ft usb-c charging cable when i was in the Apple Store yesterday. Works fine.

Someone told me The longer usb-c cables get the less effective they are, and that Apple’s 6ft usb-c is only usb-c 2.0 not 3.1 But that is for data transfer speeds not charging speeds i believe.

Don’t know if this is true. I see some 3rd party Amazon cables being marketed as usb-c 3.1

I do prefer the Amazon Basic cables with the threaded cords. I find they hold up better than the Apple all rubber ones.

It's to do with voltage and not data rates. Seems it's just an errant cable.

For usb PD charging, shorter cables are required. I’m an android user and have been using usb c for a couple years at least. I use a choetech usb PD certified cable and an Anker PD power brick. I have used it for other usb Pd compatible products with expected results. The 2018 12.9 LTE 1tb pad i use now has no problems with this setup.

Yes the cables are small and can pose a challenge to you apple users that are used to tethering your apple product to a charger. A couple years ago loner cables were being designed and there may be out now (I have not checked ) but at the start of USB PD power charging, only these short cables were available because the tight tolerances required for PD.

1. What is PD?
2. Tethering chargers to products to products? First I've heard of it.
3. It turn out it's one cable that one of two iPads don't like
4. Why am I creating a list lol
