Didn't it come with an outer box? Apple usually ships it with a sturdy outer box.

It did. It have also a little damage on corner but I thought it’s only there. I’m so angry and really tired of this computer already.

Is there anyway for you to contact the seller and in a roundabout way show and tell him what you experienced with this Mac's box and that you are in conflict whether to open because of that box smashed in on the corner. I think it might have had a larger fall or someone just rough-handled it and whomever sold you this should be informed of the situation such that you as the buyer has something to say should you open the box and everything is bad.

I wouldn't be able to wait to open and my gut reaction is that you should too(open the box I mean)
Still I would have contacted seller beforehand because it's an expensive computer - enough that all things are made clear what your options are if the the display(which I mean screen or the tech that let's you view what's on the screen. I get that it's an AIO as I have an iMac myself) is missing from the iMac or something.

I mean that's a pretty big dent in the box; My iMac box, even with the sturdy outer box, had a tiny tiny hole in it, but I wasn't that bothered about it cause it was like just a bit bigger in length than a fingernail and not very wide either. It gave me enough concern to carefully look over the computer after taking it out, but finding no issue cosmetically or functionally - other than software issues of which I still have more than I'd like - all of the concerns were put to rest and it's not really something that's on my mind any longer.

Are you buying these from Apple/Apple Premium Resellers?

My advice would be like Allan Nyholm; Contact the seller about it to have it be documented that this was the case - you also have these images and this post to reference and make sure they know about It in advance. - Get them to sort of say that you can open and inspect the computer and still not be liable if you find issues with it after opening it, and if they seem fine with you still being able to return it even if you open it, start using it and see if it's fine inside.

I’ve contacted Apple Store already. They’ll make one more replacement and they just understand that I should get inner box in really good condition without dented corners.

Honestly, if the computer inside is intact then just keep it and save yourself the stress of another return etc, if it's just the box that's damaged!

Actually, I don’t think that it could be worse than the 2 last boxes.
Did you have opportunity to touch iMac inner box ? It’s hard like a stone. I can’t imagine how hard you have to hit to do damage like this. Like someone said before it had to be larger fall.

If your unhappy about a dented shipping box, I would return it and move on. Your never gonna be satisfied.

I don’t care about shipping box. I know that shipping box is made for protect something inside. Why do you think that I’ll be never satisfied ? I was satisfied with 1st unit, inner box was in really good condition without holes and crashed edges like this.

Thanks for reply. Tiny hole in white box ? That doesn’t sound good. I already contacted with Apple Store and they’ll do for me one more replacement. I didn’t even open this iMac.

Are you buying a box or a computer?

I hope this is a joke. Condition of box is somehow related with condition of computer. Just buy Omega Watch or something more expensive with damaged case. Maybe you don’t care about it but I do. I just don’t like that someone dropped ( probably ) my computer, even in a box.

In this case, it doesn’t look like there would be any physical damage to the Mac inside. Remember, the box has one primary purpose — protect your Mac. I would not return this one.

Thanks iMi for reply ! I remembered you from my other thread with 2nd unit with the big hole in box.
Right now it’s too late. I’ve already contacted with Apple. I have 3 friends who also bought iMacs and everyone of them just got really nice boxes without crashed corner, holes. I guess I’m just unlucky or there are plenty boxes like this and people don’t care about crashed corners, holes etc.

I think it's completely fair enough to return this box. It could easily affect the internal components.

My iMac arrived with a big hole in the outer box but a minor one in the inner box. I refused it at the door but they resent the same one and I gave in and opened it.

Sadly the glitch could see me returning it still - still undecided.

It sounds like the problem is your local UPS office. Either the distribution center or something in-between. It may be a good idea to reach out to UPS and share details of what happened with them. See if you can get to a regional manager or someone who can look into this and most importantly ensure the next package arrives in good condition.

You have a patience of a saint, my friend. I think I'd lose it by now 😂

Sorry that you’re getting damaged boxes. it must have been dropped very hard to damage the internal box too. I would definitely return.

Was this fedex or ups?

Yea, it’s great idea ! Thanks ! I’ll do it :)
I have a lot a patience but I’m really tired because of these returns.

Yea, internal box of iMac is so hard. I really can’t imagine how they did it.

This time was UPS Express Service.

2nd unit DHL Express Service and it looked even worse:

I (and others) are giving you a hard time precisely because you didn’t open it and look at the computer. As rkuo eloquently asked, “are you buying a computer or a box?” Yet here you are returning it without even looking at the product inside. Most likely the box did its job.

I got it but you should also understand that this kind of damage could have impact on display or whole computer. I would rather avoid open this box and just return. Why ? Because return of not opened box is easier in my opinion for both sides. Maybe someone won’t have problem with this crashed edge and they can sell it as a new computer.

Those pictures look really bad. And I would be suspicious too with such a dent. I mean, this is expensive stuff. They must have dropped it really hard. Those iMacs weigh a lot. I have noticed some vans are overstuffed with packages. The worst experiences with me were with UPS. Packages with holes and boxes half open. I guess they just throw those packages off the plane, or whatever. Could be they stacked too high and your box fell down. Anyway, it's not a fun experience. Yes, you could simply open the package and find a perfectly fine Mac in there. The Mac is well protected. But the idea that the computer had a large smack to the ground is certainly an unpleasant thought to linger in the mind.
