Looks a little too tall. Looks like it's 12.5mm in height. The Mac Mini takes only up to 9.5mm.

If it can fit two 9.5mm height drives, can't it therefore fit one thicker 12.5mm drive ?

No. They're not like PC's with a single hard drive cage.

Check out iFixit's "Mac Mini Late 2014 Teardown" for a view of the innards.

There's only room for one 9.5mm drive. New mini's with a Fusion (ie, a second drive) come with a PCIe SSD drive that is a whole other design; it's more like a RAM stick than a hard drive.

The 2012's and earlier aluminum mini's could hold two HDD's but the slots for each were separate from each other.
