With the way the UI works now, the user doesn't have the permissions to delete the built-in apps (only root does). Giving the user permission to do this can be detrimental to the OS as a whole (giving the user root), or will still potentially leave the user in a bad state really easily if the user is only given permission to edit the apps. That's problem #2.

What are you talking about?

Just go to SETTINGS - GENERAL - RESTRICTIONS
Turn off the camera. Look, the camera is gone! I'm not sure what all the technical problems you're talking about really mean, but it doesn't stop me from removing the camera or Youtube if I want to.

Why can't they just put 'Stocks' or 'Weather' on that list? Easy. Done.

I really hope we will be able to but I don't think it will be able to get by the death lock of Apple.

Hiding and deleting are two specific, and different things. And it doesn't make sense to add apps to a restriction list when it isn't about restricting their use, but hiding/deleting them.

Yeah, but 'hiding' is clearly what the OP wants.

That's a UI issue, then. My point is that there's not a technical hurdle like you said. It can be done the exact same way as the restrictions list works. It's not a technical issue to design a menu that has a different title on it.

It has nothing to do with partitions or the root access or anything else you were talking about. Apple just didn't want to do it. That's all.

i can't understand why they won't let me remove Stocks. I never, ever use it.

Reread this thread. The OP was talking about removing the apps. He then admitted that hiding would work too. In response to the same post you replied to. But it was not his original comment when he also comments about freeing space on the device.

Here you are bashing my post based on an assumption, or context only available later in the thread after the post was written. I explained why removing the apps was a technical problem. I brought up a reason why arbitrary hiding wasn't a great idea either. They'd have to whitelist system apps that are hidable without disrupting the ability to use the device while away from the computer you sync with, and correct any mistakes if they didn't mean to hide a specific app.
