Sorry to repost this. It had slid off the first page of threads with all the people bitching about their phones. It's nice to be able to post something positive.

Just yanking your chain. I do it all the time too. It is such a relief to finally get this from Apple.

That site does not know what it is talking about. I have been controlling volume on my S9s and my other bluetooth stereo headsets since 3.0 on 3G. What I could not do is skip tracks.

You are dead on. I like this site but they are not the best. They sell these types of headsets in their store but in talking abut all the features of the headsets they fail to mention that those features do not work on iPhones, but hey, soon they will.

I have been waiting for this for a long time. I can finally get a bluetooth kit for my motorcycle helmet!!!

I use the Interphone F4 on my helmet. Works like a champ now!

When the 4.1 release notes showed up on the dev site, I went right to the AV API section (like always) while the firmware updated. I spotted like 50 new APIs in that section so I ran to the garage, powered up the F4 and the ipod app, mashed down on the '+' button and scared the dog with my shouting for joy when the it jumped to the next track :)

Track Info?

A full implementation of AVRCP 1.3 is supposed to support track forward/back AS WELL AS metadata such as artist and song info. Some cars (such as my infiniti m56) support display of that bluetooth track info.

Does anyone know, or have the ability to test, whether apple implemented support for such Track Info in 4.1?

Skip forward/back is great, and if they have the track data, I'd be in hog heaven.

Pete

You weren't controlling device audio on your S9s or other bluetooth headsets, you were controlling the headset volume. This is a very different thing.

This update brings the ability for the headset to control the device (iPhone/iPod/iPad/etc) volume. This is why the volume slider was gone while using these headsets before, but now it's present.

It's all in there according to the new API specs. You should see this type of function starting to appear with the official release of 4.1

While all that is awesome, I think I can live with just adding song forward and previous!! Don't expect too much and be disappointed!!

Are you also suggesting that it's generally better to avoid being hopeful or asking questions? Just checking.

Yes I discovered this a couple of days ago just hours after I wasted $5 on the Jaybird SB1 App.

Apple should have implemented this years, yes years, ago.

just to clarify...is this why my Plantronics Voyager 855 does not control the music (except play/pause) on my 3GS running 4.0.1? And that it should do forward/back once 4.1 is released?

Yes, Apple never fully implemented Bluetooth. Through all the iphones, until the 4.1
