Anyone run one? How good is it? Camera, sound, wifi all working?

Might trade in the nexus for an S3 (need better cam and sound), but i like stock more. I know S4 is coming, but ill get it in fall maybe once custom ROMs get stable.

Also anyone getting upto 5 hrs on AOKP/CM 10.1/another ROM?

    Thanks a whole bunch.

Hey sentinelsx. I just went back to Task's AOKP the end of last week and so far, it's running perfectly. He's already updated the kernel a couple of times over the last week, so he's making a lot of tweaks to get it right.

The camera, to my eyes anyway, looks to be just as good as the stock Touchwiz camera app. My pictures don't look any different. I haven't had any force closes or random reboots.

From what I've seen, everything is running perfectly. Wifi and sounds are fine as well.

I've been watching my battery closely and I'm probably getting 30 minutes less battery life than on stock rooted Touchwiz, but I'm still able to get 4 to 4 1/2 hours of screen-on time with his AOKP. I'm pretty happy with that. I could regularly get 5 hours of screen-on time on stock rooted Touchwiz, just for comparison.

Try Task's 4.2.2 AOKP with ktoonez's kernel. Everything works except photosphere. The kernel is also tweaked to fix the yellow tint on white backgrounds. The screen on my S3 is now perfect. Battery life is excellent.

Thanks for the tip about using ktoonez's kernel. I used to change kernels all the time on my Gnex, but I haven't done it since I started tweaking my S3. Task's ROM is my favorite, but he clearly states he doesn't support other kernels, so if something goes wrong, you simply can't ask any questions of him. Honestly, the development thread over on XDA is one of the most touchy things I've ever seen. There's also a Q&A thread, but even there people get yelled at for asking simple questions. I love Task's work, but I've never seen a developer that's such a stickler about his threads (and even a bit insulting to his users at times).

I think this is a common theme in development threads. I haven't seen a developer yet who is not so touchy. When i had the captivate, once i made a simple thanks post to another member who gave a tip about a certain fix in the ROM and the developer and his followers followed with a bunch of insults.

I can work with some of that stuff so i can usually deduce a missing step or so in ROM instructions, but i am sure that a newbie that doesn't have much experience dealing with tinkering will not last long after visiting XDA for more than 2 or 3 times. Over there people seem to think that buying an android device automatically injects our brains with some hyper knowledge.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. The flip side is that it does cause people like me to do things on their own (research and fix things). I'd rather go looking for an answer and try and do it myself than have to put up with overinflated egos.

Let us know how it goes if you try out that ROM. I'm loving it so far.

Yeah the development thread on XDA especially task's is like a bootcamp, either you put up or shut up. Ktoonez on the other hand seems to be very cool and helpful.
