Hm, fragmentation seems to be creeping up;
GSM iPhones 4.3
CDMA iPhones 4.2.x (or whatever they are at)

I wonder if 4.3 apps will work for CDMA iPhones.

And do you realize that the only CDMA iPhone is on Verizon, which is USA only?

Yes, please re-read.

Actually i'm very aware of that, thanks.
You do realize that he was asking about VZW in particular in US right?

I quoted you since you said its for AT&T only. Unless some things changed in the last few minutes, AT&T isn't the only GSM carrier in the world.

I'm sure Apple will unify them at some point in the near future.

^this, and it was the case with the iPad and iPhone having different firmwares as well when the iPad came out.
Everything will be unified with iOS 5.

I think you need to learn about subjectivity. The OP asked if any Verizon customers received the 4.3 update, and since Verizon is a US service provider, i made it simple and said it's for AT&T only, because it is the only other US service provider who has the iPhone.
It's not rocket science.

The average person doesn't know what CDMA and GSM is.

The average person also doesn't frequent macrumors so I would expect the OP to know there are other GSM carriers outside of the U.S. Unless you dispute the fact that its not for AT&T only, I stand corrected.

Way to generalize. So just because the poster is in MacRumors he/she is supposed to know about the technicalities of carriers?
The person just wanted to know the answer to a simple question. And i gave a simple answer.
I don't know what you're going on about when the poster asked a question in regards to US, and mentions nothing about the world.

The subject is a US carrier, not the world.
Refer to grantsdale's post.

I feel so dumb..........

Don't worry about it.

It's still showing 4.2.6 as the most current. Any VZW owners had any success yet?

4.3 is for GSM iphone 4s ONLY.

It's also for the 3GS too.

Right now they are separate due to hardware, but the next iPhone coming in the summer will both be using the Qualcomm dual CDMA/GSM chip which will allow them to release updates for both devices at once. Verizon already has the chip in it.

Right now due to the fact the two have different chipsets they require each one has it's own OS version. 4.3.X should be coming soon to Verizon, but in the meantime the companies will have staggered S/W versions until the unified chipset iPhone coming this summer.

4.3 will never show up for the Verizon iPhone

This is just one of the many trade offs you get for choosing Verizon.

pity

Come on, really? This AT&T/Verizon spat is getting old. Some of us don't live in the 3G area of AT&T, or even in their coverage area. I know, shocker.
