Just got 4.4.4 and the phone flies! I can push every app I use and multi task through them I it never goes over 1.5 GB and we now get 1.8 GB total memory.

    700 sunspider score also

    PS apps in memory are
    Fb
    Instantgram
    YouTube
    WhatsApp
    Snapchat
    EBay
    Google music

Phone is instant response with only using 1.38gb with all them in memory!

Iam waiting for Samsung to get its act together with their UI. Hopefully for the Galaxy S6 next spring they can make TW better and less of a resource hog. But it seems through the last couple of updates they are getting better!
Samsung has always had great hardware, They need to make their software experience match their great hardware.

With first firmware we were pushing 1.6gb with like no apps running and the cell would lag like hell and reload apps constantly

    ----------

I'm finally happy with tw and Samsung has stepped up big time with 4.4.4

I can finally say it that im over vanilla android and can stick with OEM tw without needing to root and ROM/customize the cell

You need to give 4.4.4 a try and see how much better it got.

Very nice. I'm stuck with AT&T and I can't find any info when they will roll out 4.4.4 for us. Even then I wouldn't want to lose my root, sigh.

Close to a nexus ??? Mate, with my nexus and all apps closed I'm below 500 Mb of ram used. Your Samsung is wasting twice the ram, as usual, and you are even happy

I have latest update and still have same issues having to refresh/re-load apps after you get to 5-6th in your background history.

Exactly. You can someone throw away so much money on this and still be happy. If he likes Android, why not a G3, a Moto X, a Nexus, a m8...

And the guy is happy about only now his phone starting to perform like a Moto E.

That's rich considering Windows 8 requires less RAM than Yosemite. But please, don't let me slow your bandwagon.

There is no bloatware disabled bud...relax and this is the closets iv ever seen to a vanilla android ROM running other then a nexus.

This is with all Samsung's background services running and is a major improvement from when the phone came out.

In fairness the S5 is always very smooth for me, and even when it does have to reload an app, it does it quickly enough that's its not a major scandal. Just annoys me that an extra 1gb ram would have solved the app refreshing completely. I want to try the alpha in person to see if they have done anything to improve it, or if less resolution also means less ram usage.

But outside of app refreshing after a lot of apps open, the S5 has been impeccible for me in regards to smoothness and fluidity. Certainly some of best the fluidity I've seen on a Samsung device.

I wish, my Lg G3 has 2GB of RAM, and struggles to keep 2 Chrome tabs in memory often.

The odd thing is the task manager will say my phone has 500mb of memory free, but tabs are reloading...
