4 finger swipe old MBP?

I found the thread that explained how to enable the 4 finger swipe on the old MBPs, but it was specifically for 10.5.6

Will this hack work for 10.5.7 also or do we have to wait for someone to hack it first
 
i just updated! and forgot that i had applied that hack!
I will try to put it back and see if it works!
 
This is ****ing retarded! It worked so great with my penryn macbook pro.
We might need the new AppleUSBMultitouch.kext from Unibody macbook pro with 10.5.7 update. Anyone have it?
 
i hope it works.
when i restarted my computer, keyboard and trackpad didn't work.
had to insert osx cd1 and repair the disk permissions.

so lets hope that someone can upload it from the ubmbp and see if it works.
 
Hating 10.5.7 update

Gosh... after 10.5.7 the loss of four finger swipes is so limiting. It's like i'm in a prison cell, confined in such a small place. Hope someone finds a way to enable the four finger swipe again. And god bless whoever does.
 
yeah me too...!!! I feel so weird with no 4-finger expose..I was SOOO used to it! 🙁 it doesn't let you replace the AppleUSBMultitouch.kext...! :'(
 
Well I'm about to install 10.5.7 on my unibody, would you like me to upload the kext before or after the update?
 
Anybody try it yet? I'm not too savvy with macs so I don't want to be the guinea pig... I'm referring to the above linked .kext BTW...
 
Somebody apparently tried the kext from 10.5.7 on their older MBP and it did not work.

I'm guessing that in order for it to work that there will need to be some kind of modification to it, in order for the kext to work correctly.

Whether it is as simple as modifying the plist or as complicated as rewriting the whole thing is beyond me.

I forgot I had this...I mean that this was a hack at all...I wish I didn't update! 🙁

it was evidently too much to ask apple to give us that functionality in this update sigh. Working on it now, hopefully we will find a solution soon.
 
Can someone remind me the process for the old method? I forgot what I did...

edit: never mind, it's the struck out link above. I am holding fire for now...
 
I currently have 10.5.7. Using the same hack from 10.5.6 I got 4 finger swipe.
HOWEVER,! they is something new! if u don't have any windows open when u four finger down/up nothing will happen unlike 10.5.6 where expose will just run. U need at least one window open to see expose running with 4 finger.

TO ALL OF U WHO SAID IT DOESN'T WORK, STOP SPREADING THE WRONG INFORMATION!!!
