First of all, I am sorry if this has been posted already...But here goes 3, MAYBE 4 "changes" that I now see on iPhone...

1. The most obvious, the iTunes WiFi store is NOT left aligned, there are 3 missing "apps" in that last row....

2. Different Calculator icon, not a big deal, but still different.

3. Look, closely at the pictures...specifically the Clock icon....Notice it showing the SAME time as the time listed above? My iPhone's clock icon does not look this way, maybe live updating of it....?

4. Now look at the weather icon on the iPhone, it appears to say 33 degrees, and not 73 degrees....Maybe its just too blurry and it says 73, but maybe this will be live updating, not sure about that...

Pictures attached below...

good note about the clock.

if the clock will do it, so will the weather probably.

it's not like it's a hard update to do, and im sure a lot of people have asked for it.

1) Does not really mean anything - could be they wanted it to stand out more so they put it there - could be wrong who knows.

2) Yep

3. The current icon has the time as 10:15:00

4. Looks like 33 to me as well its hard to make a 7 look like a 3 :)

My guess is, if there are unannounced apps coming, they will be:

  • Translator
  • Unit Converter
  • Phonebook

The reason I think it might be these is because they are in LocalizedApplicationNames.strings ... even though there are no apps on the phone that correspond with them.

The other two applications that I was suspicious about turned out to be on the iPod Touch. :) Address Book and Movies.

EDIT: I wonder why it'd be 33 degrees and sunny outside. :p

I don't even know if the phone book is necessary, since Google Maps provides phone numbers. Maybe I'm crazy.

Unit converter and translator is a must though.

We really need a native Dictionary app I still can't believe a developer hasn't written one yet!

Why phone book? Why not iChat?

Why phone book? Why not iChat?
It's not just speculation, these applications are mentioned in system files on the iPhone itself. iChat is not listed, but Movies, Phonebook, Address Book, Translator and Unit Converter are listed in the file. Address Book and Movies are both in the iPod Touch I assume... Unless Movies is like the Leopard movies widget...

Bleh, you get the idea.

Some random thoughts...

The new calculator icon is the same icon used in the iPod touch.

Perhaps movies on iPhone could be a simple application which could edit short clips shot with the camera (with this functionality also included in the update, of course). Perhaps with ability to send to Youtube?

I would also look for a new app from google. Seems logical, and didn't Apple say something about future Google applications?

iChat is nearly a must have by this point, especially with developers putting native aim apps into beta. I can only hope.

I believe the reason that the iPhone iTunes Wifi will not be available for another week is because Apple is in the process of finalizing the other applications that will be included and will release them as a major update, 1.5.

Nice catches on the new iPhone images. Now can someone tell me...when adding additional icons when hacking the iPhone, does it automatically arrange them on the right like that? If not, that could be telling of them "blacking out" certain icons, just like they did with the keynote today as they were unveiled.

Also...I've been outside when it's -15F and the sun still shines. Is everyone here from Cali? Lol...just because it's below freezing doesn't mean it must be snowing or the sun freezes over, haha. Funny stuff.

v1.1 here we come :D

I can see the calculator upgrade absorbing a unit converter app, with the phone book (Address Book/Yellow Pages/whatever), movies (showtimes), and translator filling the three open spots on the bottom row.

Personally I think they'll save at least some of this for the big Leopard launch party (along with a new reflective look to the iPhone's Dock). I would rather have a Dictionary (with Wikipedia, like Leopard's Dictionary.app) than a Translator, but what are you gonna do. I'd also like the "Text" app in the top left to lose the SMS label and get a full blown iChat upgrade too, but that's not happening either...

i am sure that when/if ichat is added, it will be within the "text" app which will be renamed "chat" and then within that app it will have ichat at the bottom or "buddy list" option.

Translator and Unit Converter would be the two most useless apps on the iPhone.
Highly unnecessary.
iChat ain't gonna happen the way you want it to, folks.
Notice how Apple is charging $2 per ringtone? It's because of AT&T and the RIAA, not because Apple wants to. They know it's ridiculous.
AT&T won't let them get away with iChat unless it's a per message-text deal.

Dictionary, translator, unit coversion,... are all entirely unneccessary on a device that has immediate access to the internet. There are great web sites that do all of these things at no cost. What is much more important is to add the basic computing functionality currently missing,... text seach (i.e. web sites), copy/paste, file access, etc

Agreed. Just use Google for the other stuff.

I'd like to see REAL features in addition to fixing the minor annoyances for the next update.

unit converter etc, pointless.... I THINK NOT

ok, my mac has access to google all the time, i still use widgets to convert units frequently, i woulnt just use google, if i wanted to see what the british pounds exchange rate is, i can do it in a few seconds, i dont want to google 'exchange rates' and sift throgh many sites...

really, these extra apps would be wonderful

Yet strangely AT&T already has been selling phones that come with IM messenger clients. And on top of that.........they don't charge per message.
