Wow, what a wall of text. OP it would be better if you broke the post up into paragraphs to make it easier to read.

This caught my eye, so I'll respond to that.
I will say that the thinner and lighter body is a huge plus for me
I agree, the MBP is very thin, very portable, I do applaud apple for making a stunning computer.

I'm using display port for the MacBook Pro and DVI for windows. I don't think it's the cable.
Do you have a dual-link DVI cable? If you don't, you can't push 2560x1440

If you have checked that the resolution and dpi scaling is right, then you can try to sharpen the image ftom OSD. If that doesnt work, there may be a bug in a driver.

I have Dell ext display too with the same resolution and it works fine with my win laptop and mbp.

Sorry that I in some way added to the continued controversy. I will reiterate that I do not tell people the "looks slightly better on my Dell display" as a selling point, nor would I care enough for it to keep me from buying a Win laptop I wanted. Maybe the OS's scale differently, I don't know nor care enough. I'm content to see it myself and not need to convince anyone. I am a little happier inside that someone else saw this. I am using a 3440x1440, so native resolution is not the issue. I've used both Macs on mini-DP, but also used this new one on the 2016 via a dock. The PC's I have used on hdmi mostly but one I used with mini-DP as well. I have used the prior XPS on the same dock with the same connections as well. It simply didn't look as good to the eye, and I had no real bias prior. I noticed it the first time I hooked up my '09 MBP to the monitor and compared it to the other 2 Win laptops I was frequently also using the monitor for (Lenovo and hp business laptops). It's easier to see on more pixels (and larger screen). I am ok if you call me crazy, but I won't speak for @Miltz.

The OS's have ALWAYS scaled differently. I too prefer the MacOS scaling. Even on a non retina 13" (which I'm typing on now) text and images just look better to me.

Color Temperature Update. After significant Testing My MacBook Pro 2016 15" screen is much warmer than two different iPhone 7 Plus and my Dell 2713HM display. I think I'm going to try to match my Mac to my Dell because I have a feeling it's more accurate. I wonder if Apple individually calibrates these displays. I have to say I'm a disappointmented. Unless the Mac is right and all others are wrong.

Yeah I'm finding the touchbar to be not that great for most tasks. Though it has been convenient when watching a full screen video to resume to normal size since I don't have to drag the mouse and find the button to return to normal size. There are definitely little tidbits of usage but I could live without it.

TouchID though? Try and take that away and see what happens.

I really dont know how to use the touchbar conveniently... i have tried it several times but it always feel quite cumbersome. I rather use it with bettertouchtool and with its implementation such as launching softwares.

I dont understand apple at all. For example, when browsing photos and checking the touchbar, how is it any convenient at all to use it when the pics are about millimeter wide?

Sounds good but the enter key doesnt seem to work at all.

If apple added an automatic sharpening when an external monitor is attached, no photographer could use it. You should check the settings from your comp...

I doubt it's sharpening, because I'd see differences in the large format prints I make. But I can confirm that my TB 15" does output slightly sharper images than the Dell XPS15. This was viewable in photoshop, especially when enlarging high res shots.

We ended up mothballing the Dell machines because Windows 10 is still a nightmare and kept dumping when tethered to a Nikon D810 or Canon 5D3.

If Dell can do something about their quality, get windows to be a serious alternative, they can contend with Apple. As my friend likes to point out, PC's are still a machine for hobbyists with nothing but time. Our 15" MacBooks "just work."

Thank you so much! Yeah, you get more attention when you bash Apple these days. Just look at these forums. Yes the keyboard is amazing, I love it!
I'm having a hard time deciding between portability. 13 vs 15. How portable has it been traveling with the 15?

Traveling with the 15" is nice it's just using it on a small table compared to the 13" which makes it awkward.

i think that support for 4k is related to skylake cpu, so with kaby lake we will have 4k,so its Intel related

I obsessed over this for weeks. I finally went with the 15. Glad I did

I originally went for the 13" TB and it's a great machine. I had planned to buy the 15" on the next cycle, but then a friend offered me his brand new 15" TB for $1000 off and had to grab it.

Now I only use the 13" for long distance travel, though my wife likes it for everything.

It's VERY portable. I wouldn't be comfortable using the 13" for the kind of work I do. Unless you have strict size requirements the 15" in the way to go.
