I have the og original apple watch. Ive been looking at upgrading for a while and almost got the SE last year. I'm wondering if I can get the discounted series 7 45mm, would that be a better watch and just as future proof as the new SE2? Both watches would be the larger 44-45mm and both be cellular. Opinions please. Thank you

I wouldn't spend hundreds to upgrade to an AW that still doesn't have the Always-On-Display feature, so that rules out any SE

So AOD is that big of a game changer? keep in mind I am coming for the original watch so I have never experienced AOD. I am just wondering if the series 7 is still a better watch than the new SE2. I know AOD is a factor (Huge factor to many), but are the other differences big as well. Thank you for your reply

It depends how much of a discount - for $70, I'd take the S7. Going to Series 7:

+ Larger display
+ AOD
+ ECG
+ Fast Charge

- Crash Detection

Both being based on the S8 processor (S6, S7, S8) I imagine that they will have the same support lifespan. I could be wrong.

I think that for this price difference you’d be better with the S7. Always-On display, ECG, blood oxygen monitoring, bigger display. SE 2 has basically the same SoC than S7, and only have niche features like car crash detection

so really the new SE2 just has the updated processor which is not that more advanced than series 7, but series 7 has many more features.
