Just ordered mine yesterday…so yeah it's going to be a while! Can anyone compare the comfort level of the Milanese Loop to the Sport Band? Wondering if I should pick up the sport too. Thinking about getting the black with black snap just to be different and have it be solid black. But I'm also hoping they come out with a red band sometime this year. I'm also interested in seeing what third parties do—especially with the link band designs. I'm partial to link bands but not crazy about the style or price of the Apple one.

After a few hours -

Phone calls, even when the watch is by your side (not holding it to your face) are clear to the caller.

Speaker is fairly loud and clear.

There is some lag within the Apple Watch app on the iPhone when making changes in settings, slightly annoying - I assume it is making live changes and synching as you adjust things.

Picking and sticking with a watch face will be tough! I want them all at once! Haha

Adding shazam as a glance for easy 1 swipe access is cool.

Heart rate monitor is also pretty cool! I can't wait to get to the gym and try it out.

I have had thoughts of 'I wish it did more', but you really can't (comfortably) keep your arm up for more than a minute to do 'much more'. It's a great companion to iPhone.

Siri works really well.

Ability to ping your iPhone from the watch will come in handy if you've misplaced your phone.

Thanks for the posting. That is the watch that I plan on ordering. It looks just as I thought it would.

Your Photo #6 is a bit confusing. Every other photo shows square packaging, but that one shows what appears to be a rectangular box. What is it?

Again thanks, and good on you.

Cheers Tom - it's just the plastic case (square) on its side to show the pull tab! :)

Can you make phone calls outside bluetooth range? (while connected to the same wifi)

Mine still says June.

Oh, damn. I didn't see you here. Looks like I'm not alone in this here boat after all :D

How far is Bluetooth range?

Just tested with about 20 meters of distance between the watch and the phone. No problems.

I read someone reporting that you can make calls over wifi.

Was any software update required? Wondering the status of rumored improvements to app load times that Apple was hoping to release soon.

I'm torn between that band and the blue leather loop. I got mine with the white sport band because I'll probably need a sport band a lot, it was cheaper with me already dropping $600 on a watch after not wearing one in a decade or more, and if it's good enough for Tim Cook I can dig it.

No updates required. After synching I couldn't work out why iPhone apps (Apple Watch supported) wern't displaying on the watch.

You have to manually enable apps you wish to sync/display via the Apple Watch app.

Having chopped and changed between faces - the jellyfish face is absolutely stunning.. its gone from turquoise blue to having this pinky red tinge (not sure if it's associated with the sun now setting!) - it's pretty awesome. (Edit: I raised a few times and each time it seems to cut to a new video of the jellyfish - it went back to blue so the colour isn't associated with time of day.)

Utility face has been on all day - really like it.

The earth face is pretty cool - you can use the crown to fast forward in time (globe spins) and see your location going into darkness..

Attention to detail is amazing.

Mine is out for delivery here in the UK.
Haven't been this excited about a delivery since the original iPad back in 2010 :)

nice!!! thanks for posting!

hopefully i'll move from processing soon! can't wait to get this watch on my damn wrist!

Congrats! Enjoy :)

Must admit - Apple talking about the device being so personal - having it attached to your arm all day - it really feels that way.

It's not as much to 'geek out over' in comparison to the iPad - the iPad has much more functionality. I'm finding it's really 'just a watch with added extras' - but it's pretty damn sweet!

Everyone be prepared for tired arms!

They don't connect to the same WiFi (i.e. an access point somewhere). They run peer-to-peer WiFi, much like AirDrop. The iPhone doesn't have to be connected to any AP, WiFi just has to be turned on. There are no WiFi settings on the Watch (that I've seen).

Watch and phone find each other through BT and negotiate a WiFi channel between them for data transfer.

I think the manual says that you can't connect the watch to wifi by itself, but it will connect to wifi once the iPhone is on that network (and can continue to connect to knows networks afterwards)?

Box

So...Can the box be modified to be like the Edition box that you can charge the watch in. Can the bottom felt lift out and allow one to dremel a hole for USB to go through in back and up into bottom of felt tray?

I'm curious how well the magnetic closures work on the loop straps. Is the connection positive enough to keep someone from grabbing the watch and snatching it off your wrist? A typical buckle or link bracelet would require breaking the strap of sliding the watch off your wrist and over your hand. It seems to me that someone could easily grab the watch using an Apple loop strap and snatch it right off your wrist while walking by you.

I don't know about the leather loop, but the Milanese loop doesn't open all the way. The magnetic end piece won't go through the eyelet. The band would have to be broken or slid over the hand to be removed.

Is that true? Wouldn't that require the iPhone to have two WiFi radios? Maybe iPhone picks between 2.4 and 5GhZ for its own use and connects to Watch on the other band? Assuming iPhone has simultaneous dual-band ability (like an Airport).

Piggybacking off iPhone makes sense because you'd avoid situations (like airport terminal or public wifi) where more than a simple password is needed to establish WiFi. But it seems that that should be a fallback mode. By default, I would think that the iPhone should securely pass credentials to Watch and let it get on WiFi directly. In this way, Watch could stay connected to iPhone while they are on same subnet, even if physically far away. Also would allow Watch to do limited "online" stuff even when not tethered.

Is that true?

Apparently not. My watch initially refused to connect to my wireless access point and I combined that with what I've read elsewhere to jump to the wrong conclusion. This is fixed now, and I can see the watch connecting go the AP whenever it goes out of BT range (or I turn BT off on the phone).

Sadly, the WiFi Direct technology may not be available (yet?) on the watch.
