That was freaky... 10 minutes ago I put my broken ipod on to restore and it said 1.1.4, I assumed it was a typo as I did a quick google and no mention of new 1.1.4. But now there is, sweet. Shame I've lost all my music though.

Judging by how big the package is, I would assume it's the release that will come with the SDK.

see that's what im thinking..seeing as though i can't even use my schools wifi right now, i doesn't make sense for me to have my ipod jailbroken. if the sdk comes out in the very near future, good bye jailbreak

Yeah, I guess it's installed prep files for the SDK release.

The cost was for the enhanced featureset. If you didn't want that, you could still upgrade the firmware, but not the software interface additions.

<shrug> I suppose. The update is pretty much identical though, and there is much more discussion in that thread.
Don't know if I like the absence of a clear "Chapter" indicator instead of the new chapter sub-menu.
