So the iPhone is up on the UK Apple Store but there's no mention of pricing yet. Anyone have any idea what it's going to be? Jobs said maximum would be $199 worldwide but that would make it £99 here which I can't see happening...

UPDATE:

Also coming on Pay as you Go but no details for that yet.

Can live in hope, at that price would be happy to pick up an additional O2 contract just for the handset and drop my T-Mobile down to its minimum, until the price was going to wait and see if it could be unlocked, now not going to bother.

Perhaps around £120 - £140... Apple always seem to overvalue USD when setting UK prices! Still if that's the price then I am very happy indeed!

I don't see it happening either. I have ipod touch and if they sell it around £100 then I'm selling it and getting iPhone as it will be way cheaper :D

It will be a minimum of £120. Got to remember to add on the VAT to the US prices. I'm guessing £129 to fit in with Logic Express and Final Cut Express, which also clock in at $199 in the US.

I wish you had put a question mark at the end of the thread title, I thought you had the answer! If anything I really hope they bring the O2 contract price down.

I'm not sure O2 will bring the price down, however if they can sell the iPhone for £120 on the cheapest tariff it's not a bad deal, especially when looking at how the original was priced, would be nice to only have to pay £20 though, and not be on O2, but guess I can't get everything.

If they did a £25/m with 300 mins / 250 texts I'd be interested. As it is, I'm sticking with £10 300/300 Virgin because data is not worth the extra. Don't see it happening though :(

£129 inline with 8GB with iPod Nano 8GB.
The $399 iPhone was £269 over here, inline with the differences for one of the mac mini models.

MacRumorsLive.com: The iPhone 3G will be available July 11th in 22 countries. The maximum price around the world is $199 USD.

If the guy at the WWDC heard right, and if the rumors about a PAYG are right then roll on 11 July. I hope O2 have a press release tomorrow.

Price now confirmed as £99 on £30 and £35 per month contracts.
Free on £45 and £75 a month contracts.

16Gb model will be £159.

There's also a PayAsYouGo option, but no details yet.

What about people who are locked into a non-iphone contract with o2? I took out an 18month contract last september but I get the impression by reading those details that an upgrade might not be made available untill the end of the contrac, i.e March 2009 for me!!! Does anyone know if this is correct or am I just panicking?

Existing customers can take out new 18month contract - overwrites the old one - to upgrade to the 3G iPhone - prices same as new customers - based on tariff.

Same situation. Im still waiting to find out about my current 02 contract (exp. March 09)

However, I purchased my contract via dialaphone so Im not sure whether this would alter anything??? Its a cashback scheme.

I'm not so sure because on o2 website it says "We'll contact you when you're eligible for an upgrade" for existing o2 customers. That kind of suggests you need to run your contract?

The iPhone contract ONLY overwrites your current o2 contract if you got it DIRECTLY from and o2 store or o2.co.uk. So e2save, phones4u, redemption deals etc. You have to pay off the remaining months of your contract!!

Unless of course I buy a current gen unlocked one.

This may be better for my needs, as the only thing I'd lose out on would be the 3G in effect. I'd still get the 2.0 upgrade and I wouldn't use a data plan. Just my Wifi!

I posted this on one of the other threads but it's a good point (even if I do say so myself)....

If I buy an 8gb on a 45 tariff, I get it free. What then if I downgrade to a 35 tariff as soon as I can? I presume you'd be tied for 3 or 6 months but that means I'd have paid 30 or 60 quid for the iPhone and still got the contract I wanted.

Anyone spotted how long O2 are making us stick to a tariff?

excellent point, a slight loophole in the system...
have to wait and see what o2 have to say about that.

aaarrrggghhh!

its always difficult!!! The new £30 tarrif offers the mins/texts i want (+plus the unlimited data etc) but i thought would be £25 maybe even £20. The jumps from £35 to £45 are much bigger than from £30 to £35.....

I pay about £8 per month on payg now (inc cloud wifi) so need to 'find' £22 per month...... hoping to sell my 8gb iPod Touch to cover the iPhone cost.
