Not too sure if folks have heard about this before, it's just a bit of fun setting out at 4am to take pictures. It's been running for a couple of years now and slowly growing in popularity. There's no theme, just shoot in the 4th hour of the day. I usually join the event organiser Karen Strunks on a local (Birmingham, UK) 4am shoot, but this time Karen's gone off to NYC to do something over there.

There's a Flickr group for all to post on and most of all it's a bit of fun.

Not the best pictures I've taken, but the project isn't about that it's more about fun and capturing the quiet hours (though lots of clubs emptying around 4am!)

I've just moved from Birmingham to Cardiff, wish I had known about this before I moved! I like the idea,

Nothing stopping you creating your own Cardiff version. Some nice looking buildings etc in Cardiff.

    My 4am project: Orion/M42 via T1i/50mm lens/DSS

    My 4am project: Orion/M42 via T1i/50mm lens/DSS:

    Taken Oct 17, 2010 just after 4am EDT, 500 (2) sec exposures @ ISO800, 40 darks, 25 bias, shot via T1i+50mm f1.4 prime lens on tripod.
DSS took quite a while to crunch this.

Not much PP here; adj levels, added some saturation/vibrancy.

4Am'ers- your ambition is to be commended. My picture at 4am is usually of the back of my eyelids! Nice work all.
