4GS will does not say "sync in progress"

My brand new phone does not say "sync in progress" when syncing with iTunes. None of my photos or anything will sync. Help!

The Sync In Progress graphic has been replaced with two spinning arrows on the top left of the screen.

It's a 4S, no G, and it doesn't say "sync in progress" anymore. Syncs in the background, allowing you to continue to use it. You should see a spinning wheel in the top left. Not sure why your photos aren't syncing.

Make sure that photo syncing is checked in iTunes. As others have said, syncing happens in the background.
