I can spec either to a similar price. Will the 27" perform better compared to the 21.5? No gaming, the only heavy use will be lightroom.

I ordered a 21.5, but cancelled as I just wasn't totally sure about it. I previously didn't go for the 27 due to it's size on my desk, but if its a better iMac.......

(the 27 will be i5, 512 SSD, 8GB ram)

I am in a similar situation, personally I have a 21 inch now and have been waiting for the retina 21 inch, but I'm throwing my better judgement into the wind and getting the mid-range 27 inch. What got me to do it is 2 things that seem like a big deal to me. The foremost is Skylake. I don't want a new computer that has a generation old chip, which the 21 inch does as its only available with Broadwell. Less important is the integrated graphics, but I would rather have a machine with a dedicated card.

When Eddy Cue asked me which model of iPhone 6 did I get, I told him "Of course the 6 plus," and he replied "go big or go home, right?" I said "exactly."

But, if the size will become an issue because the lack of desk space than you should get the 21" for sure.

Bigger screen isn't always the better option for everyone, what size are you currently using? and what computer are you currently using? have you been to the apple store recently and compared a 21" and a 27"?

Currently on a 21 2009 iMac. One issue that holds me off the 27 is we have two iMacs sat side by side on a desk, the 27 and 21 might look a bit odd sat next to each other.
