I’m not seeing DV anything as an option in ATVs menu. 4K HDR 30hz and 24hz, yes. Both of which I tried but still only getting HDR.
If you haven't yet, also try restarting the ATV. If this doesn't work, it still might be the cable. Apple says use a cable certified for DV, but, I think you can find one with the HDMI certification on it. Not all cables will have enough bandwidth for the added HDR metadata, if the cable is HDMI 1.4, but, not made to spec, it could create a bottleneck. This may not be the issue, but, first thing I would try. https://www.hdmi.org/manufacturer/premiumcable/faq.aspx

It works on my 55KS8000 but I find that it looks terrible until it’s recieving an actual HDR signal, then it looks great. However my home screen and non-HDR programming do not look good at all. Turning it to 4K SDR makes everything look great. Not sure this is worth it to keep or return until they figure out how to let the TV decide what’s an HDR signal and what’s not.
I have a 65ks8000 and also set it to 4.2.2
When I watch 4K hdr Blu-ray the tv would let me know with a message that I was watching hdr content. This is NOT happening when I’m watching with Apple TV4K, does that mean is the aptv4k is not sending 4K image?
On setting it shows 4k hdr 60hz and 4.2.2, the movie also showed 4K hdr.
Does you tv give you the message now watching hdr? Thanks!!

I believe Samsung took that out in recent update .. it doesnt do it for my PS4 pro anymore either.

Interesting, I wonder why.
I don’t have a “display” button on my remote (is the crappy small remote with voice command and barely any buttons) that I could hit an see what is going on in there.
On my other tv I can hit “display” and see 2160p etc.

Turns out my receiver was too old. Upgraded, all is well.

Turned on 4:2:2 (4K HDR UHD HDMI 2) on my KS9000 and it looks great.

It did get slightly darker but its dark uniformly whether it’s HDR or not so it would be easy to adjust. However it didn’t get dark enough to worry about.

Haven’t noticed any banding.
