I bought my first movie with my new AppleTV 4k called Alien: Covenant 4K HDR (2017) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2316204/. It seems to be spiking from 42mbps-140mbps while it's streaming. This isn't much of an issue as I have a 500mbps connection. When I had my Roku Ultra it never did this watching movies in VuDu. Is this normal for AppleTV?

im having 110mbit downstream(25 up).. and i must admit, mine downscales sometimes - never done that before..hmm

This doesn't mean the video bitrate is anywhere near those peak rates. More likely the ATV is periodically pre-buffering a certain amount of video as fast as the connection to Apple's CDN servers allows. The actual video bitrate is probably somewhere around 15 Mbps. As long as your average bandwidth is above that value it'll be fine.
