I don't think so... I don't think movies are showing up as 4K on the store yet, at least i haven't been able to see any of mine upgraded

Starting to see movies I’ve bought from the U.K. iTunes Store listed with HDR and Dolby Vision in the Videos app of my iPad 2017 running ios1 GM:

How big is the file for the Martian?

No file size shown on the summary page in the Videos app. Setting the download going and checking in iTunes > Downloading gives 5.6GB. I’m downloading on a non Pro 2017 ipad, so I may well be receiving a regular 1080p H264 download rather than a H265 HDR10 file.

interesting... I wonder if they are rolling it out in phases.
The UK was the first place (only place?) that saw some movies listed as 4K back in July.

Thanks for the link - will read though. I’m hoping it’s not too much to hope that Blade Runner might be in with a shot of an upgrade given the forthcoming sequel.

Starting to see more of my iTunes purchases with either HDR or Dolby Vision tags. Independence Day HDR, Lego Batman Movie Dolby Vision. Looks like Warner Bros are going with Dolby Vision, Fox with HDR10 so far.

5.6 GB is the regular 1080p H264 download. I wonder if the 4k downloads are strictly limited to the 4k Apple TV. I have a 5k iMac and a 4k option would be nice.

Quite possibly. Given that Apple have said the Lightning to HDMI dongle will not support 4K/HDR content, I am wondering why my non HDR capable iPad is displaying the tags when said hardware cannot make use of the feature.

I will assume the iPad Pro could show and play HDR since I states High Dynamic Range will take advantage of your device screen, but will not play via the Digital AV Player. and that's a on and off switch.

Has anyone seen if the HDR, 4K, or Dolby Vision logo appears in the actual iTunes Store for movies? I can't seem to find anything yet (danish) store.

looks like US movies are starting to show up with 4K, HRD and Dolby Vision

And apparently the 8 and 8+ do too.

https://www.apple.com/iphone-8/specs/ and scroll down to the Video Playback section.
  • Video formats supported: HEVC, H.264, MPEG-4 Part 2, and Motion JPEG
  • Supports Dolby Vision and HDR10 content
I’m wondering if they just put that there so people know it will play content that is labeled 4K HDR. If you look at the comparison page between the 8 and the X, for the X it states HDR with Dolby Vision and HDR10. Hopefully it will actually play HDR, but the different wording leaves me to wonder if it will.

Yeah i would guess the HDR content will only show on the Pro or the new phones that support it

I'm able to see the 4K and HRD on my iTunes store app on my 7 Plus but not on my iPad Pro 9.7

I'm able to see 4K displayed next to recent movie releases on my iPad 3 lol but then again I'm in the UK. What's interesting is that there is no option for HD or SD just 4K so I'm assuming it's only one price going forward for all films?

Yes. Yesterday I could see 4K listed in the store on my iPhone...under what I previously had "purchased" in HD. Could not see it on my 5K iMac. though. Today when I checked on the same movies (again with my iPhone) that I had purchased and showed up that I could also get the 4K version free....it no longer listed 4K. So it may be just my iPhone or they are just playing around with it and will add them back later and more like that after the Apple 4K TV is shipped, etc.
