Looking in the TV app today and seen all the movies I bought in the iTunes Store that were 4K are now just HD. No 4K.

Anyone else see this?

I think what he’s talking about is his 4K section is gone. Mine disappeared too . But it seems the movies that are 4K are still 4K there just isn’t a separate section for me where I can easily search through the 4K movies I have.

You may have turned off 4K output in your settings. Turn it back on and all should be fine

mmm Seems to be a server issue somewhere. Just sat down to watch a movie and noticed mine has gone from 73 4K/HDR movies to only 12....

I think things are messed up with some backend changes going on to prepare for the launch of tvOS 12. I’d just ignore the 4K/HDR section. All you’re movies (save a few that may have been downgraded temporarily to add Atmos) are still there in 4K.

I did check the missing 4K movies in the TV app, looks like the filter in the app is messed up as they are still showing as 4K in the actual listing.

Exactly. The filter isn’t working right. Just ignore it for now.

This happened to my copy of heat (1995) as well. it used to be 4K and since roughly 2 weeks it‘s just HD.

No, my 4K section is there. I have 2 movies still showing in 4K. My other moves, example all 3 The Purge movies are now not in 4K, just HD. They were in 4K before. Same thing with Annihilation, mother! and Goodfellas, no longer in 4K.

Have you checked the actual movie page in the movie section rather than in the TV app. Seems the filter is out of whack at the moment. They should be still in 4K, unless, the studio is messing about with what is available which is quite common. Goodfellas in the movie section is showing as 4K/DV in the UK currently.

Just checked. Used Goodfellas (Remastered Feature) as an example. Went in to the iTunes Store, the movie page states 4K Dolby Vision. I then went in to my TV app and it says HD. Not 4K Dolby Vision like it did when I purchased the movie a few weeks ago.

Seems I'm getting 2 different formats on the same movie.

I can see both version in iTunes, but are showing 4K/DD. But, it's no uncommon for this, there was a big thread a few months back about films going up and down between HD and 4K.

I've actually seen this behavior before also, but when I played the movie it played in DV.

Ignore the TV App. It’s messed up. All that matters is what it plays back in and that’s 4K.

iTunes does occasionally pull 4K to add DV or Atmos, but at this point don’t use the TV app to confirm if it’s 4K. Use the store page and playing the movie itself.

It can be really hit and miss at time with this 4K/HD content. American Psycho shows 4K/DD in the UK iTunes store and on the ATV store. Honestly it works in mysterious ways does all this...I've given up trying to work it out. I could look tomorrow and it would quite easily be back in HD only.

In 99.9% of these cases, the movie is being improved in some way like adding Atmos or Dolby Vision. They’re almost always back within a week.
