Looks like i was right all along!

i have noticed that 4k speeds on all SSD seem to be well below capable speeds.

Turns out that the Chipset from Intel has some over agressive power save feature which kills 4k speeds.

found a whole forum of people who found the same issue.

been on to OCZ and Corsair and non of them understood until now.

Hopefully this can be patched with better chipset drivers in both osx and windows.

    here see for yourself

MacBook Pros don't have a PM55. They have a HM55. Also nobody knows if this applies to OS X as well.

So, do you think I shouldn't buy an SSD for my MBP until this is fixed?

i have one and its well worth it now.

you cant notice the speed drop in 4k.

but when intel fix it it will be even better.
