I am getting 5S, my son is getting my 5 and I need to sell his used 4S, what would you suggest for quick and painless sale place?

The easiest route of all would be to trade it in to Apple when you purchase your 5s.

Tons of other options out there though. Gazelle? BuyBackWorld? Craigslist?

Gazelle offered me $165 for my wife's verizon 4S 32gb. The apple store store offered me $168. Sold it to apple.

4S's should easily go for 250-300 on craigslist provided they are unlocked. Gazelle and Apple store offer the least value but they are most convenient.

I got $190 from GameStop. Like I said on another thread, cash in hand, no mailing it off, no one disagreeing about condition when they receive it, no eBay scammers, no CL muggers. Just walk out with cash.

That is interesting, thanks!

it was not in acceptable condition to sell on craigslist, the screen wasn't cracked but it was dropped and beat up a bit so I was happy to get $168 for it

Point of reference: I sold my iPhone 4, 32GB AT&T (officially unlocked after contract by AT&T) for $200 on CL.

trading to apple is the dumbest advice, they give u penny vs a decent price on cl or ebay. hell i wouldve bought the phone for $250 if i knew

Gamestop is offering $231 for mine. I'm going to stop by there tomorrow afternoon. Its a little less than the offer I got from Nextworth but its easier than mailing my phone in and its guaranteed on the spot, whereas Nextworth could inspect my phone and give me a lower offer.

$300 on CraigsList. Just wait until someone bites. Meet at starbucks. No security issues. Have never had a problem selling on CL.

OP asked for the "quickest and painless sale." Obviously someone would have to be an idiot then to recommend eBay (scam central) and Craigslist (hagglers galore) vs a quick, painless transaction at the Apple store.

Of course there are other options to sell at which give you a better price for more risk/effort but since I actually... you know... read what the OP was asking I gave him the information he was looking for

I locked in 225 on nextworth for paypal cash a couple weeks ago for a 4s 16gb. I could get more on CL or ebay, but neither are worth the 50 bucks to me.

I got $231 from nextworth last week. They definitely give you the most, and if you choose that route PM me and I'll give you a code to use for an extra $20.

GameStop bought my 8gb AT&T iPhone 4 last week for $136.60.. I could have gotten a $170 store credit, but the cash right out of the register was what I wanted. Quick and painless:D
I bought a 16gb iphone 5 at Walmart for $79 for my daughter...

Sold my AT&T 4s 16 gig to gamestop last week for $290 + 50% bonus coupon = $435.

Store credit, but still. $435!!!

I basically traded it in for a playstation 4. :)

Yeah if I wasn't banking on the money I'll be getting for my 4S to pay for part of the the 64 GB 5s I just got I would totally take the 290 and put it towards a wii U. Oh well, I don't really have time to play it anyway.

I assume you mean that by "guaranteed on the spot" they could offer you whatever they want, 231 being the absolute highest based on like-new, out of the box condition. No scratches or anything. Next level down is 191, so that's considerably worse than nextworth, where is just needs to be functional, power on, and no cracked display.
