4S Camera stuck closed?

Shah my luck, just got my 4S and upon opening the camera app the lens stays on the closed animation until I hit the home button, then when I return to the app it is open but nothing on the view finder and no response from any buttons.

Any ideas or do I have a dud?

Tried all of the above to no success. Any other tips? Maybe reset the phone?

Yes, I would restore via iTunes.

It seems as if when I enter the app if I switch to the forward facing camera it works but upon switching back to the rear camera the animated lens returns to closed?

I had this same problem with my 4. If you can't get it to work by restoring then it's probably a hardware issue, a loose or broken camera module. They ended up replacing my phone.
