They will need to be the cases designed for both the Verizon/AT&T models with the bigger cut out for the mute switch as I'm sure the mute switch is lowered like in the Verizon version.

What about the aperture of the camera being bigger on the 4 S as per the promotional video? Or does that not affect the actual size of the camera "hole" in the case?

I just checked sites for cases and the 4S cases are preorder which means they are different.

I also read that the camera is bigger on the 4S and it also now has a flash next to the lens so if you want to use your camera on a 4S you will most likely need a new case.

It's that big brother effect.

Of course they will try to capitalize on new cases... It's America...

I wonder if the AT&T iPhone 4 "Bumper" cases will fit on this new phone.

They didn't fit on the Verizon phone, so not sure which phone the 4S mimics -- the Verizon or AT&T.

Isn't it going to be the same exact model for both carriers (CDMA/GSM)?

It is but it looks like a CDMA iPhone so that's why some are saying it needs to be designed for the CDMA iPhone.

A couple sites I've been to just made all their iPhone 4 cases 4s cases as well so I don't know if it matters or not.

Good point, might have to wait for a physical comparison.

Is there a difference between the Version iPhone 4 and the normal iPhone 4 before?

The silent switch was lowered a bit due to an extra break in the antenna.

If the case you're interested in has a similar style to this do not buy it unless it says made for iPhone 4s.

If the case you're interested has this style then it's safe to buy as the switch position doesn't matter.

marware has many cases but they have ones for verizon and ones for AT&T. Probably because of the mute button issue.
But the 4s cases they have are very limited.

http://www.marware.com/iphone-4s-cases

which leads me to believe that there is something else that is different otherwise all the cases they have for the cdma verizon iphone would be available for the 4s .... (if the 4s has the mute switch like the cdma iphone4)

then u have other sites like casemate which basically puts 4s and all the cases that they have for the 4
http://www.case-mate.com/iPhone-4-4S-Cases/iPhone-4-4S-Cases.asp#page=1

and speck which basically adds the S on all 4 cases as well

so its kinda confusing i guess to get 100% positive answer ...

the size of the phones are exactly the same
115.2 x 58.6 x 9.3mm
its just the buttons that may be moved slightly

I wanted to know if the Otterbox Defender series case will fit? I have one that was bought at a Verizon store for the iPhone 4...

I see on their site that they have a spot to enter your email to get notified when they release the 4S cases.... I am interested to know if it will work for the 4S before I have to spend another $50?
