Get the 16g 5s then price it for an amount that may not get you immediate sale. Wait out the insanity of the first month or so and see what the real 6 brings to the table. Not the rumors.

You solve your phone problem. Staying with platform you like. And get the benefit of potentially avoiding any teething issues the 6 may have. And if the 4.7 and 5.5 come out slightly different time you may want to see real world reactions to both before you decide.

Plenty of people will still want the 4 inch screen so not really any risk there.

If I were in your shoes, I would buy a 5S now, then sell it for a nominal loss when the 6 comes out. It sounds like your 4S is on it's last leg. I would sell it before I dies completely.

So, to those who are interested, here's the story so far (it's actually my partner's phone, not mine):

- Decided to keep his iPhone 4S and wait for the iPhone 6.

- Ordered a new SIM for his 4S (much better deal and meant he wasn't in a contract so could switch when the 6 arrived).

- Put new SIM in phone, phone is locked to Orange so won't work on new network.

- Pays £20 to have phone unlocked.

- Today, phone stops working (transfer of number to new SIM is complete) but iPhone is still locked to Orange and still won't accept new SIM. Has no working phone.

- Bites the bullet and goes and buys a 5s, purely so he's got a working phone. It's a bit of a waste of money, but he could be losing work.

- SIM doesn't fit in 5s as it needs a nano SIM.

He now has a working 4s, a working 5s and a working SIM. But none of them work together.

Is it any wonder I moved to Android?!
