4th in line outside a major Apple Store... manager says ZERO plus of any kind for walk in

It has to be difficult to plan the logistics around these launches, so many factors to consider... ideally you want the right number manufactured but not too much...

This year they may have been hedging the 7+ a little given the Samsung Note's debut, maybe they thought that was going to eat into demand a bit... hard to know for sure.

Running out is part of the game part of the hype part of what makes getting one satisfying, but maybe this year they guessed a bit low... or maybe they have a huge shipment flying in just a few days from now, who knows.
Or, Apple got lucky that the Note 7 is a total recall.

Why? Because Apple being in a severe shortage and announcing NO PHONES in stores could be just the thing that made anyone on the fence forego getting an iPhone and buying the Note 7.

No company wants to alienate its core base of customers they KNOW will want the phones on day one.

I agree about the Note 7 recall. I don't recall a pre-order like this before where literally no one ordered Silver and yet they were out of it. Since they are not revealing numbers well we will never know.

If the Note 7 had not been recalled then this would be a very different story for Apple. lets see what happens next year :)

Apple was predicting to investors lower sales this year... but that was before Samsung blew up, now maybe it's a record year?

I am so lost, I have lined up every year at the apple store and they always have phones for tons of people, how can they not have ANY plus? I also dont EVER see the option to pre order at the store on apple website ever, so how are people doing that?

Late production start.

Only one week ago, we were ordering phones versus 2 weeks in the past.

I think this year in store reservations were for Apple Upgrade customers.

Lol they weren't worried about Samsung. Samsung shipped 2.5 million s7's worldwide total since launch and it wasn't sold out anywhere. 2.5 million units is an accounting error for Apple

Has zero to do with Samsung. Their flagship phones don't sell anywhere near the numbers iPhones do

i left a loyal crew who was waiting it out... they just received $100 gift cards and told if they want the plus to leave and try another time.

I bet those people will be able to get a Plus over the weekend if not next week. It sounds like it's just today that stock is gonna be incredibly thin on the ground, but they'll catch up rapidly I bet.

You're part of the problem.

Making 2k profit on top of my already free iphone is a nobrainer (sold 2 jetblack plus's, kept one). Next year will likely be the same if the rumored iphone is announced. I may get 5 of them or so (I have 10 lines...because it's profitable to have them maxed out).

Seriously, if you wanted the iphone, you should have preordered at the right time. It's not rocket science. To be honest, i'm surprised to see this shortage this year. I didn't think this launch would be worthwhile for reselling. It didn't take long to see the date slipping though.

Coming from someone who got the exact 7+ I wanted for delivery today, there was no right time to preorder. A friend of mine was doing all the same things I was to try and preorder and he got in late and got an October delivery.

People did pre order at the right time and still did not get what they ordered. Simply put the launch was messed up. Don't know why that's hard to accept. This whole thing feels like Angela had part of it because she totally messed up the launch of the AW also.
