Hi

Just a quick question sorry if it sounds stupid but

Im hoping to buy a backup spare 2010 Pro tomorrow but as it was a business machine they have taken the HDDS out so i was wondering as i cant test it fully ie no Monitor Hdd does it chime with out a HDD if i was to plug it in and confirm at least it has power and starts up

If theres any other ways of testing it please let me know

Thanks

Take a disk with you and a USB keyboard.

Start with a nvram reset, if the sound is set to zero you will hear no chime. After nvram reset you will hear the chime.

And the disk should boot. Maybe you set the disk with an OS to internal speaker and let a startup app do some sound.

An AppleScript with
Code:
say "the big bronwn fox jumps over the lazy dog"
would be cute.

Also the caps lock LED should react.

Company Macs could be locked in some way, so you will see / hear if it will boot into an OS.
