I guess I'll chime in and say that this is a really good idea, one that's long overdue. I myself carry around a big bike bag for when shopping needs to get done, or my girlfriend will bunch a few plastic bags in the bottom of her purse just in case she needs 'em. It's convenient, good for the environment, and doesn't cost ya a dime.
I was saddened when I heard this news. Every time i go there, no matter how big or small an item I buy, I take about 50 empty bags home with me. They are great bags because they are clear, huge and great for recycling every week.
It would save me a lot of money and give Ikea free advertising too. But now, I'll actually have to buy bags.
it's about time.
every store should do it, but it should be more like 25c/bag, than people would take notice and start bringing their own bags.
especially in grocery stores/supermarkets: enough with the ridicolous double bagging of everything.
Paying 30 cents for extra McDonalds Sweet N Sour sauce, now that's an outrage! Even though I don't eat the nuggets anymore (they are awesome though) cause of health reason, it's still sucks.
That sounds nice but no one ever does these things voluntarily. Sometimes you need to force change; some people might get upset. Others will adapt or just pay.
It's like dollar coins. They only catch on when you get rid of the paper ones.
