Apparently, for the next week or two, due to back to school, CompUSA is running 5% off all Macs. I am planning on getting a new notebook for my kid .. yay!

Is it 5% off the education price, or just 5% off the normal price?

I believe it's the retail price. CompUSA doesn't reward Apple's education discount.

That's a pretty common sale at compusa. I doubt that we will see new macbooks next week saying that they were updated only 2.5 months ago.

There were some rumors about LED backlit MBs a while ago.

If you qualify, I'd assume buying it through Apple is cheaper, particularly if you want the iPod (if I get one, I'm giving it to my mom as a gift since I've already got a 5.5G).
