Reason number 6: because they appear unwilling or unable to fix the product they sold me. In its current past-30-day-return-window state, it hangs up on people, mutes the microphone and won't work reliably with my car's BT system.

For me, that's the only thing that matters... a product that works.

They forget the most important reason. Apple is a success story. Haters.

And how, may I ask, is that different from reason #3 (You've had a bad experience with Apple products)?

Secrecy-too soon upgrade of product, mob scene

I just get so turned off with the Apple secrecy policy that not even employees know on certain products that are about to come out. I also hate the fact that whenever I visit an Apple store it's mobbed with people who are sometimes rude or just vain. When I'm shopping I don't like people all over me. Oh, I forgot, when you purchase an Apple product and spend so much money on it, in only 6 to 8 months after, something better or upgraded of the same item comes along, so you spend a fortune just trying to keep up with the latest better product. I give up. The economy is still unstable. I should start saving now instead of making Apple so rich.

Plenty of people are still happy with their 3GS's. I'm very happy with my 2009 MB Pro. Nobody's putting a gun to your head to buy a new product. And, really, Apple refreshes their product lines once a year. That's behind many companies, if you ever decide to look at this objectively.

    Just a couple thought:

First off, why did you just join MacRumors if your are so "turned off" with Apple?

Secondly, my Apple Store experiences could not be more different, and I'm sure the majority of people on here agree. The geniuses are, for the most part, very nice people who really try to better your experience. I'm not sure who you're referring to when you talk about rude/vain people. The customers? Employees?

Thirdly, you do realize that most other companies roll out products more quickly, right? Take a look at Motorola. They released the Droid, then the Droid X, and not the Droid 2 all within a year. Apple releases ONE phone each year...not three or more like most other companies.

Duh. If you were a CEO of a Silicon Valley tech company it would be bankrupt. I guess you never heard of Patent or IP.

I don't hate Apple and I'm convinced that my sentiment is shared by a lot more folks than a few vocal haters. My biggest complaint about Apple is unnecessary secrecy. I can understand protection of trade secrets and realize that announcement of a new product hurts sales of current inventory. What I cannot understand is the unnecessary cloak of secrecy in which Apple witholds useful and sometimes critical information from loyal and curious customers. After all, we are stakeholders in Apple success and Apple products.

Apple should hire a PR firm or PR staff that quash rumors and announce critical information about Apple products in a timely manner. What is the problem with the white iPhone 4 and when do they expect it to be available fore sale? Is an antenna fix in the works for the iPhone 4? When does Apple expect to release iOS 4 for iPad? These shouldn't be corporate secrets, these are questions that Apple needs to answer if they want to groom customer loyalty.

No, I'm not an Apple hater, but my admiration for the management of the company would be enlarged if Apple re-evaluated the current practices that
involve unnecessarily withholding information from customers. Come on Mr. Jobs, loyalty engenders loyalty and your customers could use some signs that Apple management cares enough about their customers to answer our questions in a timely manner.

Apple has given three updates on why the white iPhone hasn't been released. Apple stated during WWDC the the iPad would get iOS4 in the Fall.

Just because you're not satisfied with the answer doesn't mean Apple hasn't given you one. So your point?

This "secrecy" you talk about is a big reason why Apple is so successful. Don't worry so much about what Apple is doing and get on with your life. The professionals know what they're doing, even if it makes you mad.

The white iPhone has run into unforeseen difficulties in the manufacture of the white glass, they'll release it when the problems are overcome.
The iPhone 4 doesn't have a antenna problem, I get a way better signal than I did with my 3gs, we've got good 3G here in Australia. It's purely a US problem with AT&T's poor network.
They'll release iOS 4 for the iPad when it's ready.

It's not Apple being secretive, they just don't know exactly how long some things will take to fix so they don't comment.

Back to the editorial. It's poorly written. It's a "disguised" why I love Apple or why you should either love Apple or shut up. It's flamebait. And it's ridiculous to pigeon-hole people into 5 categories.

These types of articles I find silly. They are merely a way for the author to feel a sense of authority and/or to create a heated discussion and get hits/feel "popular."

Not a badly written article. I can see most people who hate apple falling into one of those categories.

Don't forget those who are jealous of Apple because of just how successful they really are in fact they recently passed Microsoft in Earnings, so what's not to be pissed off.

Oh well I prefer Apple and I am not afraid to admit it :D

meh, I've grown out of the fanboy attacks on other devices/brands.

The article you posted is just another article written by an apple fanboy. It insults people who don't like apple and makes them sound stupid.

In reality, people just need to realize that there are dumb people on both sides... to be completely honest though, the amount of blind support is much stronger with apple supporters.

I think its important to understand that PC and mac both have their pros and cons.

Android fans are just as annoying as Apple fans. I actually don't dislike Android. If it weren't for god damn Droid fanboys I wouldn't hate it as much.

I'm a recent Apple convert myself. Not because I don't have or use other products, but I do enjoy Apple products a lot. It does seem like if one enjoys Apple's computers, Iphone, Ipad, etc, very often we are labeled as fanboys.

Truth is Apple's products are not perfect and not suited for everyone. It just depends on how one uses their gadgets in their daily life. If you don't like the company or their products, just don't use it.

The sad truth is people that are anti Apple here ARE still using iPhone and coming to forums called "Macrumors". How pathetic is that? If they really hate Apple products why visit macrumors for news? I've never been to Android forums. Is there even such thing as Droid forums?

The real sad truth is that most people here only see the world as black and white. "Are you with us or against us". I really enjoy using some of Apple's products and visit Macrumors for... well Mac rumors. Yet I keep getting labeled a Apple hater because I don't accept every decision Steve Jobs makes and I keep insisting that there is a tech world outside Apple that is as good if not better in some instances.

    I'm a shade of grey.
