They managed to make iPhone 15 obsolete pretty quickly.

yep. They managed to make iPhone 15 obsolete pretty quickly. So much for that sustainability.
It’s hardly obsolete. AFAIK, the only thing it can’t do is convert a poster to a calendar event. And you know what, I do it the same way I always have.

FYI. The last phones to become 'obsolete' was the iPhone 6 and that was from 2014!

Well they technically did because it can’t get the Apple intelligence software that every device from 15 pro upwards gets

iPhone 13 Pro user here. I really feel sorry for everyone with an iPhone 14 series or earlier and I understand everyone's frustrations. There's one thing I certainly know, my device feels great after 3 years and 4 months, yet I know Apple Intelligence will always work best on the newest Apple devices. It's a new way for Apple to sell as many products as possible and I fear this is their new selling and marketing strategy. We better get used to this since this is the selling strategy of every smartphone manufacturer that bakes artificial intelligence into the core of their products.

So, you want to be technical? Based on the definition of obsolete, every phone is obsolete once there is a new one. But in reality it’s a sliding scale. The 14 has more than the 13 (Camera mainly). And so it goes on.

But the iPhone 15, in reality is not obsolete any more than the Samsung S24.

Given how Apple push AI, regular non pro iPhone 15 is not relevant other then usual stuff which could even iPhone XR do, right? So why would anyone want this phone? Either buy cheaper one also w/o AI or go for 16 lineup.

EDIT: iPhone 15 is regarding technical relevance DOA.

Wow. Thats just gibberish. My iPhone 15 Pro is amazing and there is very little that I miss out on at all. You wanna talk down something without basis, then more power to you. You do you bud.

So many features. Some of them are small but they are very useful. Adding entries to calendar using Visual Intelligence is nice. Custom memories on iPhone is another good feature.

I was talking about non-pro. iPhone 15 Pro is cool.

I guess it’s because the iPhone 15 has a 2 year old (iPhone 14 Pro) processor. It wasn’t made for AI. I have no doubt, because they have done it before, if it could use some features, Apple would add it. Personally, if they could add "Photo Clean Up" that’d be enough for people who have a basic (non pro) phone.

Edit. When I replied earlier I read it as Pro. So my bad.

So many things but I still can’t set alarm/notification volumes independently of ring volume. The most basic of features I’ve been waiting for since my 3gs. It’s baffling this cannot be done with everything else thats been achieved

yes your technically correct
But it’s down to personal opinion because the 15’s came out the same year but 2 of them have been cut off of new software already

The issue is they had the previous years cpu. I believe that is the reason. And they only have missed out on some of the software capabilities. It’s not like they cannot run iOS 18.

yes it gets the core os update but it’s essentially been cut off because it can’t take Apple intelligence just after 1 year of being out so essentially Apple launched a phone known full well it couldn’t get they features

Yeah, they would have known when they released it that it restricted A.I. In the future, but is also perfectly consistent with previous price structures with their 2nd tier phones. The same thing happens with every other manufacturer. iPhone X versus iPhone X Pro is like Samsung A versus S series (to put it into context).

Can you imagine upgrading from the Samsung S24 to S25 and finding out the S pen no longer works?

Mate stop being an apple apologist it shouldn’t be that you buy last years model to suddenly get cut out. I understand 2 year old models & so on not getting it. So basically a 1 year old mobile is getting treated like an older model already & that’s the issue.

I think you’re reading someone else’s post.

My point was the iPhone compares to the iPhone pro is the the same as a Samsung S v Samsung A. How the heck is that being an apologist?

If you can’t understand that, then you’re doing the opposite and just making shyte up for the same of it.

Can’t you see they are the same or are you an apologist for Samsung? If not then you clearly don’t understand why phones have different tiers.

There was no iPhone X pro for a start
All the iPhone 16 models got Apple intelligence & so will the new budget se model. Out of 4 of 15 models that got released last year only 2 can get Apple intelligence so just stop with this S & A nonsense. The iPhone 15’s has essentially been deemed not good enough even after just a year of being out & getting the same treatment as the XR by getting the core OS after just 1 year of being out.

Wow. Because it got the previous years cpu. I said that ages ago. It’s the guts of a 2022 phone in the 2023 body.

I’ve had enough of this gaslighting. Goodbye.

Yes, mainly when they tell us how eco friendly they are or going to be.

There IS a reason. It's called planned obsolescence.
In the case of the 15 I would agree. Should have padded the hardware a little bit so that it could handle some things that were right around the corner. That's why I don't trust the 16. I feel like there's going to be some "big breakthrough" with Apple Intelligence in a year or two that's going to require higher end components that what the 16 has to offer.
