Does anyone know how much HDD space is available from the first startup on a new 2011 MBP? I got it customized by Apple and upgraded the hard drive and the memory.

I seem to remember that when I first got my MBP a few days ago, I think it said I had 480 something GB available. The guy at Applecare says I should of had something like 496?

The Apps I have downloaded are App Cleaner, MSN Messenger, Iwork 09, and Adobe Flash. I don't have any files yet transferred from my old macbook. I have a few documents saved and my downloads folder is clean.

Can I calibrate my hard drive or something? Was I not given the right amount of storage to begin with, I'm confused. Thanks, Amy

A new system comes with iLife installed, that and the other software a new Mac comes with takes a chunk of space. 480GB sounds quite reasonable to me as available space.
