the hard drive replacement is definitely doable by yourself. as others have mentioned, just use ifixit or youtube. I used youtube to great success with replacing my MBP's hard drive, and I'm sure you will, too.

you know, I checked one of the youtube videos...one from owc...you're right, it isn't that hard to do...the video really clarified the steps...thanks guys...

I just got the 7200rpm 500GB Seagate to replace my 200GB 7200rpm drive that came with my MBP. I'll compare the speeds of each when I get a chance.

I've had my 500GB 7200.4 Seagate drive since day one(February), and it has been perfect. Its fast, quiet and very reliable. Toms Hardware has tested this drive and compared it with others in its class, and the Seagate proved to be far superior to is competitors.

No vibration problems with it or anything like that? What drive did it replace and how does it compare to that?

That would be great, thanks.

My Seagate 7200.4 rocks in my MBP

Lots faster, quieter, less power used. Just be sure not to cover the breathe hole with the sticky ribbon cable. It's a pressure adjustment hole. Easy to avoid.
