I got my iPhone 3g about 2 weeks ago, and latley I found out when you play music thu the speakers in the bottom, and cover the left bottom speaker it goes very quiet and no sound comes form the right bottom speaker. Can someone else try this and see if it is by design, or do they get sound out of both speakers. Maybe the other speaker is just for the phone speaker phone? Please someone just play a song on their iPod and cover each botton speaker individually and tell me what happens-

prepare to get absolutely burned for not searching. theres normally about a post a day about this exact 'issue'

if i were you, i wouldn't read any more of this thread

Sweet Jesus, we need to put a large, annoying, flashing gif next to the search box that says "OMFG USE ME FIRST" or something.

And to answer your question (for the 43875948759483th time), there's only one speaker. The side you hear sound coming out of is the speaker; the other is the mic. Phones usually work better with those.

the answer is right between the 2 speakers...

can there please be a stick about this?

***** annoying

The iPhone only has one speaker on the bottom. The other one is the microphone...

Policy from here on should be to send the OP to the nearest Apple Store for a trade in :D
(For those of you with NO sense of humor, please just laugh at the notion of sending someone through the trouble of getting an appt. at the Genius Bar only to find out there is only one speaker!)

That'd be epic!

"What can I help you with?"

"Well only one of my speakers is working.."

*Genius starts laughing hysterically*

You don't even need to use the search...there's a freakin' thing at the top of the forum that says "READ THIS BEFORE YOU POST" for the FAQ's. What do you know, the very first FAQ in that list mentions only having 1 speaker.

If there's one thing worse than the 'only one speaker works' post it's the inevitable 'actually the iPhone has two speakers and one mic'.

We really need a pendantry forum on here.

lol 'actually the iPhone has two speakers and one mic' is the new 'its not the heat, it's the humidity'.

Insert banging head over and over :):):):confused:
thank you for posting this question. you are todays winner, you win the new and improved secret code to restore use of the second speaker on the iPhone. Insert this code into your settings (I4GT2Srch) under the sounds and the speaker will become active and twice as loud.

Sorry not had coffee yet.
