The title says it all.

My List:

- The Last Emperor
- The Savages
- Juno
- House of Flying Daggers
- Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
- Ocean's 11, 12, 13
- The "Bourne" Trilogy

Don

-juno
-superbad (was pretty funny)
-Rent
-Blood Diamond
-An inconvinent Truth

I enjoyed all of those sans "An Inconvenient Truth"

I don't believe that I forgot to include "Pineapple Express" in my list, it is the funniest movie I have ever seen. I was LMAO in the theater.

Off the top of my head, these come to mind:
  • Casablanca
  • The Dish
  • Hitch
  • Serenity
  • Wild Geese
  • To Sir, With Love
  • Remember the Titans
  • Air America

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
Terminator 2.
Blow.
American Psyco.
American History X.
The Patriot.
Braveheart.
Harry Potter films 4 and 5.

Just a few I can think of at the moment. I try not to get dragged into the whole "intellectual" film watching thing and just watch what I enjoy rather than something with some deep message or something.

I like:
  • Children of Men
  • Requiem for a Dream
  • Transamerica
  • Wet Hot American Summer
  • Mysterious Skin
  • The Chumscrubber
  • Romeo and Juliet (the modern one that had those scenes that didn't make any sense because what they were saying was misinterpreted by the director)

The movies I enjoy that I wouldn't want my friends to know:
-Dan in Real Life
-To Kill a Mockingbird
-Just Friends
-Big Daddy
-Fever Pitch

The movies that I list as my favorite on Facebook (which are still my top movies)
-Shooter
-The Rock
-Oceans 11 & 13
-21
-Rounders
-Boondock Saints

Sorry, I forgot the best movie I've seen all year. "Forgetting Sarah Marshall." It helped that I had just broken up with my girlfriend of 3 years.

- Quadrophenia, That'll be the Day (and pretty much any British coming of age film)
- Hot Fuzz
- Leon
- Dead Mans Shoes
- Them 2 new Batman films
- Land Before Time (the first un)

Probably more but I can't remember.

  • Blade Runner (pretty dang tame for an R)
  • Dear Frankie
  • Top Gun
  • Strictly Ballroom
  • Minority Report

and a couple of classics:
  • Casablanca
  • North by Northwest

I know there's more but it fails me at present. An Inconvenient Truth was good because it got a lot of people to wake up to global warming and pollution. It's not one of my favourites only for the fact it's not really a movie movie (you know?) - and it's dated material. I would list it on a 'Must-see' list though..

Some of my personal Faves, no particular order:

LOTR Trilogy.
The Guns of Navarone
Schindlers List
Galaxy Quest
Ferris Buellers Day Off
Castle in the Sky (and most anything else by Hayao Miyazaki)
Swordfish

...and likely 6 dozen others I can't think of right now.

Agree with raggedjimmi about British coming of age films (European ones usually have that bitter sweet flavour, too) and with Melrose about An Inconvenient Truth.

My own personal favourites, the ones I have been bowled over by, tend to be European. Anyway, here are some which really took my breath away when I first saw them, few rank as "entertainment", but they are formidable films.
Indochine (Catherine Deneuve, absolutely incredible, beautifully shot and wonderful story)
My Life As A Dog (another bitter sweet coming of age movie)
Jesus of Montreal (possibly the most intelligent and thoughtful take on the story of Christ that I have seen on film)
Au Revoir Les Enfants (another haunting coming of age movie, set in a boarding school in war time France)
The Third Man (classy subtle movie from start to finish; great score too, based on a story by Graham Greene)
Lone Star (proof that intelligent, thought-provoking, multi-layered movies can come from the US, a great movie by John Sayles).

For entertainment, I have to cite Quentin Tarantino, (Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown), and Monty Python (Holy Grail, Life of Brian especially); LOTR is excellent, too. Re Star Trek, I feel that some of the individual episodes of the respective TV series' were actually better than the movies, special effects budgets notwithstanding.
I'm sure that others will occur to me. Cheers

This has always been a question I've had trouble with.

Here's a list of the ones I enjoy the most:

-King Kong (Peter Jackson's version)
-The Great Dictator
-Star Wars (Episodes 2-6)
-The Lord of the Rings
-Batman Begins
-Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
-Zoolander
-Raiders of the Lost Ark
-The Nightmare Before Christmas
-Pirates of the Caribbean
-National Treasure

And finally...
Pokemon: The First Movie..I kid, I kid. :)

Also enjoyed Brassed Off (local film) and Rat. And now I think that's it! I've seen a fair few films but not many I'd like to watch again.

And dare I say... What Women Want? :D

Trainspotting
Memento
The Matrix
Fight Club
Donnie Darko
Carlito's Way
Heat
Requiem For A Dream
Pulp Fiction
The Fountain

Silence of the Lambs
The Omen
Super Troopers
Club Dread
Saw 1, 2, 3, 4
Harold and Kumar(both movies)

Ooh, I love Silence of the Lambs. "It puts the lotion on it's skin, or it gets the hose again." I love that line *psychotic twitch and evil manic grin*. I don't believe I forgot that one to. My favorite movies are changing all of the time.

Don

  3. Die Fälscher

You might of noticed I watch loads of German Films, Well they are better than the crap Hollywood is sending out.
