Can anyone with the base 2018 15” share their experience of any light gaming they’ve done please? I have a PS Pro but may play the odd game on the MBP. There seems to be lots of benchmarks for the 560x but not many for the 555x...

Any light gaming should be fine provided you have realistic expectations on settings, resolution and frame rates. MacOS games tend to be less optimised than Windows equivalents anyway so you’re more likely to get glitches and lag even with plentiful power - again just something to bear in mind. So realistically you should be able to play more or less anything that’s available for macs as long as you’re willing to turn settings down and maybe live with 30-40 FPS on some more demanding titles.

I find it more than adequate for my needs. I lock CPU to 2GHz max and then the 555x can run at full power in games without any throttling whatsoever, while the fans remain quiet. Just play with settings to get satisfactory frame rates thereafter, but once you do there is no jitter, nice and smooth. I wish there was a way to adjust fan speed in Bootcamp, I could live with a little more noise to bring the temperature down, that’s my only complain, but really - every laptop will get hot.

It's actually pretty capable GPU with 4GB memory, much better through bootcamp though.

Which games have you tried so far out of interest?

Oh damn, didn’t realise we couldn’t adjust the fans in Bootcamp

Probably because the 555x is ill suited for games. I'm sure casual gaming will be fine, but I wouldn't expect much

Of course but neither is the 560x yet there are game benchmarks for that ;)

What do you use to limit cpu spped to 2 ghz?
