5870/5770 + 2006/2008 Mac Pro + future firmware updates

Ok, so it's pretty much confirmed that the 5870 and 5770 work on pre-2010 Mac Pro's.

So what happens if Apple issues a firmware update for the 5870 or the 5770? Will that firmware update installer/flashing utility run on a pre-2010 Mac Pro?

If the past is any indication, you'll get firmware updates just fine.

If not, as Cindori said, there are people who can make it happen.
