my clickwheel....

Right, I got my 60GB iPod on Thursday last week. The volume has been all over the place ever since. Hoped it'd sort itself out, but it's been an arse.

Gave Apple a quick call on the 7th day of ownership and complained.

"Sorry sir, we'll send you a new one tonight for tomorrow morning, and with that a TNT pouch for them to come and pick it up within 48 hours."

GREAT SERVICE APPLE!

I knew today was my last day of this service - I just left it till the last minute to see if it'd fix iself.

I'd guess that the on display iPods need to be cleaned regularly to not become grimy, and that the cleaning solution/process polishes the wheel.

Matt is a name, matte is the word you're looking for...
And you should remember that as the wheel gets scratched and worn, it will become glossy.

I don't think my spelling has anything to do with the subject. However...

Main Entry: mat
Variants: or matt or matte /'mat/
Function: adjective
1 : lacking or deprived of luster or gloss : having a usually smooth even surface free from shine or highlights
2 : having a coarse rough rugose or granular surface

matt

adj : not reflecting light; not glossy; "flat wall paint"; "a photograph with a matte finish" [syn: flat, mat, matte, matted] n : the property of having little or no contrast; lacking highlights or gloss [syn: flatness, lusterlessness, lustrelessness, mat, matte]

And of course there is a difference between English and American-English spelling.

I have been following my thread with interest. I only originally wanted a quick answer to my question, but this is great! Thank you to those that do recognise that shop display 5Gn iPods are different. I am actually quite happy with my iPod now I have been using it. I have even used directions given in another thread to put video on it from my DVD collection. Ace.

Thanks to all who have added to the thread.

Cheers
