5g ipod up and quit

i was just at the grocery store, and had my ipod plugged into my car stereo. i came anck out and it wont work, theres nothing on the screen and it doesnt respond, even when its plugged into a charger or my macbook. its just blank no frowny ipod nothing. any ideas
