Does anyone else feel like maybe they’re not actually using 5G or is my carrier (Rogers in Canada) just that bad? I actually get faster speeds on LTE which sometimes I wonder if I’m even really using 5G despite it saying so at the top.

when I go in to field test mode it lists LTE bands as the serving cell info. Not sure if the phone can simultaneously use both at the same time. When I’m on a call to still says 5G even though I’m pretty sure the phone doesn’t support Vo5G at the moment.

There have been a lost of posts about 5G speeds not meeting expectations, sometimes being slower than LTE.

Depends on your carrier.

Reactions: Never mind
The meat of 5G frequencies is 3.5GHz. That spectrum won't get auctioned in Canada until late 2021.

Even if it says 5G at the top that doesn’t necessarily mean that’s what it is connected to, it just means that it is available and can switch to it if the extra speed is necessary. That said, when I had an iPhone 12 (which I’ve since returned) it was much slower in a speed test when apparently connected to 5G than my iPhone 11 connected to LTE at my house (and tested from the same room minutes apart). That was on the Bell Network in Canada. I don’t think 5G has reached the speed or reliability of LTE here yet and the iPhone 12 is only kind of a 5G phone anyway.

I turned it off. 5G is the biggest myth right now. Funny thing is, by buying the 12, I was future proofing it. Well maybe in 3 years it will be available only allowing me to sell my phone to someone that will actually use it on this phone. That’s the only positive I see with it.

Wow I can't believe you get those kind of speeds. AT&T is ****ing crap lately this on LTE.

You're complaining about those speeds?
