After not being able to pull Ultrawide band signal here in PDX, I got ahold of Verizon customer support via twitter. They made me reboot my phone after doing something on their end and asked me a series of questions. I never had problems pulling 5G, just UW. Anyway, after work I went looking for UW nearby and its definitely working.

I only ran the test once because it downloaded almost 5GB of data lol. I was STUNNED how fast it all happened. Glad its working now!

5gUW data is unlimited. Test all you want my friend.

Here’s a comparison from inside my home in West Yorkshire UK. Three consecutive speed tests using 13 Pro Max as follows:

First result using the physical SIM (DTAC Thailand) via international roaming on O2 UK 4G.

Second result using eSIM (EE UK) 5G.

Third result using home Wi-Fi (Virgin Media Cable broadband).

I literally just returned my 13PM because of this. I think it was a bad radio or antenna or both. The new one so far is working fine.

To be fair, on my old XS Max, inside my home, I struggled with 4G on EE - always 1/2 bars & phone switching to WiFi calling the moment I came indoors. I’m inclined to believe that this is an EE issue rather the phone - they may have the widest UK coverage however, I see a lot of complaints re: their indoor signal in many areas.

When TMo US launched their 5G last year at first it was horrible at least for me. Then they upgraded a tower near me and I do Pro good between 400-660 downloads. With the 13, it was 4.48 down abs .02 up. So yes it was the phone for me.

I’ve just run another speed check from inside a bar, 10 minutes walk away from my home. This would confirm my suspicions that the EE signal inside my home is an issue.

That's good news. I just read my plan, and I see that now. I've yet to get a 5G phone, but hopefully in a few weeks...

Any ideas as to what icon Verizon is going to use when the C-Band spectrum is deployed? Probably not "UW" especially if "UW" is unlimited. I hope they don't introduce another set of plans to use C-Band frequencies.
