I have Verizon. iPhone 12 pro.

When I’m driving I notice when I make a call I start off with 5g then after a little bit it switches to LTE.

When I hang up it switches back after a couple of minutes to 5g

normal?

I think so - 4G is more than enough for high quality audio and you’re either getting a strong 4G signal or a weak 5G signal and the iPhone is saving battery while minimizing audio quality loss (if there even is any).
