Two questions:

would my pro max say 5G on the top right if I didn't have 5G on my account?

Do most people have the 5G Ultra Wideband or 5G nationwide?

Worth upgrading?

Thanks

Every Verizon plan includes ”nationwide 5G” which is Verizon‘s 5G running on Band 5 850 Mhz. It is not much faster then 4G LTE. Yes your iPhone 12 Pro Max would display 5G if you are in a 5G Nationwide Area. 5G UWB is additional $10 or included in the new plans.

I have Verizon and the old Get More Unlimited plan that includes 5G and 5G Ultra Wideband at no extra cost. My phone always show 5G in the upper right and corner when it has connected to 5G. In my area 5G is a little noticeably faster than 4G/LTE but not too much.

What type of speeds? Thx

Thank you. Is it worth upgrading from 5G nationwide to 5G uwb?
I upgraded to the “Get More” plan which includes 5G UWB and 5G Nationwide mostly for the add on as it includes Disney + Bundle and Apple Music and plus I get 50% off my Apple Watch data plan and data plan for my iPad Air. I have not connected to 5G UWB yet even though it is available in various spots in Los Angeles County.

The phone would display LTE when there is no 5G. It will display 5G for nationwide 5G and 5G UWB when connected to 5G UWB.

That's awesome, thanks for the details info.

Would it show 5G on my phone if the plan did not have 5G?

not necessarily. I’m in a 5G nationwide and I do not have the 5G icon in the upper right hand corner......ever, even while standing underneath a 5G tower.

I live in MA and used the 12 pro for a couple weeks. I never saw 5G in the corner but when I called Verizon they did say I had some 5G usage? Either which way the phone went back lol. Cant even make calls consistently

I am on Verizon reseller in NY. I am getting about 140 Mbps in my suburban/country home and 70 Mbps at work in a big hospital building on the new 5G, don't really need UWB but 5G is a noticeable upgrade in my area, LTE is about 10-15 Mbps

There is some 5G UW in downtown Boston, but that’s it.

Nothing in the burbs.

Look at the map to see if UWB is in your area. If you travel and go to areas with UWB it *might* be worth considering depending on your needs. Reality is, 5G has a LONG way to go before we see the benefits announced during the iPhone 12 event. Even in cities where UWB is, they are literally slivers of coverage. Zoom in on any one of the cities in the coverage map and you will see how limited it is right now.

My old family plan that's not even an unlimited plan gets Nationwide 5G coverage that @SAMtheGAM mentioned. UWB is not in my area and I don't travel enough to even consider warranting upgrading to a different plan. In fact, I have 5G turned off so the battery isn't taking a hit. LTE is plenty fast for my needs.

You’ll be greatly disappointed if you’re expecting ultra wideband in your home. It’s only available outside or if you’re literally around the 5g antenna. I tried out Verizon and ran back to ATT after Verizon was super slow in comparison to Att
