I have the most recent model of Airport Time capsule router 2TB.
Although all of my network drives are connected via ethernet i only use my MacBook Pro via the 5Ghz wifi channel. Mostly this works well enough for large file transfers when i'll see transfer rates of 50-70Mb p/s
Occasionally i find this will sometimes be much lower for periods of time so ive been looking at the wifi setup to determine im getting the best use.
If i open wireless diagnostics and do a scan of the surrounding networks it tells me the best 5ghz channel to use is 161.
It also tells me I'm currently on channel 36 - which looks quite popular with the neighbours however ive also seen it on channel 100 before.
However when i go into Airport Utility the 5GHz channel is currently on Automatic. But I can only choose channels 35, 40, 44 and 48.
Why am i limited to being able to choose these channels when ive seen my router use channel 100 before and diagnostics is telling me 161 is the best channel to use?
